Florida Marlins team scout Spencer Mills was awarded this championship ring following the South Florida ballclub's 2003 World Series triumph over the New York Yankees. Several cubic zirconiums and red-colored stones form a baseball motif, atop which rests the gold-colored Marlins emblem. Raised lettering bordering this elaborate presentation proclaims, "WORLD CHAMPIONS." Spectacular and rare 2003 World Series Championship Marlins dial, ordered as an additional sound by Brad Penny, likely for a family member or shut business associate. Coveted Type "A" ring is made of 14 karat white and 18 karat yellow gold with 228 ivory diamonds, 13 rubies, and one teal diamond. Face of the ring reads "World Champions" above and below the Marlins brand on a baseball background, all encrusted with genuine rubies and diamonds. Left shank reads "Penny 31" in relief around an image of the World Series trophy, right shank bears team logos for the Marlins and Yankees with numbers "4" and "2" indicating series wins, respectively above 100th World Series emblem and designations for 4-3 series win over the Cubs and 3-1 over the Giants. Inside stamped Intergold 14K, weight is a very hefty 94.5 grams, total gem weight is 4.75 carats. The 2003 Florida Marlins defeated the New York Yankees in six games to win the World Series, giving the Yankees their second consecutive Series loss. For their winning ways, the Marlins were issued these very impressive rings. At the time, the 2003 Marlins ring was the largest World Series ring ever produced, the player versions weighing an astounding 106 grams. This 10-karat gold ring presented to the team chef contains many small CZ stones plus 14 colored gemstones adorning the top. This provides a base for the Marlin fish, with the words MARLINS WORLD CHAMPIONS. The left shank reads "World Series - 100th Anniversary - 2003" and features the Major League Baseball logo. Also displayed on that side are the team logos of both the Marlins and their post season opponents as well as the series score in games. The right shank features a highly detailed depiction of the Championship Trophy and lists the year "2003 and the team's regular season record "91-71 plus the name WHITE and STAFF. Along the interior of the band is "Intergold" and "10K" plus FLORIDA MARLINS CHEF 487. Size 13; 58 grams.

After going 91-71 in the regular season, they then defeated the San Francisco Giants in five games in the NLDS, before outlasting the Chicago Cubs in seven games in the NLCS.
