One thing we love most about Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is that there’s something new and exciting to look forward to every year.
This year, it’s the “Holidays in the Sky” Drone and Fireworks Show.
From now through July 31st, you can top off your Holiday World experience by heading to the German American Bank Party Plaza at dusk for a dance party followed by a spectacular light show powered by 300 illuminated drones. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before, and it’s already getting a lot of buzz across the region.
Our Time at Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph
Since we were traveling to Holiday World from Nashville to see the show, we decided to turn the experience into a mini-vacation and book two nights in a Holiday Cottage at Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph, a sprawling and very active campground right beside the park offering cabins, cottages, and RVs for rent, as well as full hook-up RV sites and tent sites.
After driving straight to Holiday World from Nashville and spending most of the day in Splashin’ Safari, we loved being able to head straight to our cottage for showers and a chance to kick back and relax on our screened-in porch.

Lake Rudolph Campground & Rv Resort
Situated at a distance of 450 metres from 1935 Santa Statue, the 10-room Lake Rudolph Campground & Rv Resort offers quick access to numerous city landmarks nearby.
At the Santa Claus resort you'll be about 25 minutes' walk from Jim Yellig Park and only a short distance from Holiday World & Splashin' Safari. Entertainment venues in the vicinity include Hoosier Celebration Theater, which is around 5 minutes away by car.
Lake Rudolph Campground & Rv Resort comes with media amenities like a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, as well as an air conditioner, ensuring the comfort of our guests. Bathroom facilities also include a tub, a separate toilet, and a shower.
Coffee and tea makers are available in the Santa Claus accommodation for self-catering. The kitchen also offers a microwave oven, a fridge, and kitchenware. The accommodation is also a 51-minute drive from Owensboro-Daviess County.

The closest place to stay neighboring Holiday World is actually right next door!
Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph is a family favorite and for good reason. When it comes to accommodations this singular resort has so many other options to choose from and even some fun holiday traditions that carry over from year to year.
It’s no surprise that Lake Rudolph would have a lake. There’s a dock to go fishing, paddleboats and beach volleyball. But what is a surprise is seeing the Raven roller coaster in action right next to the lake. You are close enough to catch the screams of delight from the ride goers! The roller coaster appears to go right along the edge of the water with the Holiday Society water tower standing in the distance.
Holiday Themed
As you drive around you’ll notice right away that everything is holiday themed. From Christmas Cabins to holly jolly street signs, it’s all about the winter holiday fun at Lake Rudolph.

Indiana – Lake Rudolph Resort
Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort is the closest lodging to Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. I think the name is a little misleading, because it sounds like you need to bring an RV or tent with you, right? That isn’t the case at all. Lake Rudolph has 200 RV’s and 72 Cabins that you can rent. And some of the cabins are very far from rustic (think flat screen TV’s and surround sound). A few key amenities are not provided, but we’ll get to that later. Lake Rudolph offers many recreational opportunities. The miniature golf course was being renovated while we were there and a new playground was recently installed.
Paddle boats are available to rent on the lake.
Outside the camp store, you can search for gems and fossils in a bag of rocks.
In the summer, Lake Rudolph offers a swimming pool (included) and a small water park (extra charge). Although these had closed for the season prior to our September visit, we got to experience Halloween Weekends and all the associated activities. More about that later.
