Do world championship decks actually sell?
So do world championship decks actually sell? They aren't tournament legal, and most of the cards are therefore useless, so why buy them?
Would it be a better idea if they ditched this product in favor of a $25 theme deck that is tournament worthy, as a "I forgot to bring my own deck, therefore I would buy one", type of deck, just like the magic event decks, which does not dominate any games, just gets newer players playing against decent decks without getting destroyed?
In many ways, the product lineup for magic and pokemon are roughly similar, if not the same, well magci from 2001 to 2007 anyway. They both have booster packs. They both have theme decks (magic calls them intro packs since 2008), they both have world championship decks, Magic had them between 1999 and 2004, and both have a trainer kit, or core game starter set. Both having a step by step tutorial and 2 30 card decks.
I personally think that Magic should bring back the starter core game, but Pokemon should, depending on if the world champ decks sell, change them into Pokemon event decks, or "I forgoto to bring my own deck" precon.
The Most Valuable World Championship Promos In The Pokemon TCG
The competitive side of the Pokemon TCG is full of unusual cards that many standard decks will never need – World Championship Promos. These rare cards are only distributed to select competitors at World Championship events, which are held once every year.
With their availability limited to a single event once per year, and the pool of recipients even more restrictive than ever, these cards are becoming more sought-after than they once were. When it comes to the most expensive World Championship (WC) cards, older doesn't always mean more valuable, as you'll be shocked to see the price of some of the most recent WC promos.
These cards are ordered according to their TCGplayer market price. Any cards without a market price are not included. All cards with a market price were included at the time of writing. World Championship Deck cards are omitted.
